A channel partner is a third-party company which is an extension of sales team of another company that offers services or sells products to customers.
Channel partners help generate more revenue, grow customer base of each business, and provide different and customized ways for consumers to implement new products by working together with the businesses they partner. Each partner provides services for implementation and continued support for each customer base in a channel partner program. Both the channel partner and the main organization can benefit from this.
Partner management software is used by many businesses to keep track of all of their channel partners. It can be made possible to track recruiting and onboarding, campaign reporting for co-branded offers, and affiliate sales and payments by using a partner management tool.
Anyone who is not working as a full-time employee of a company could serve as a channel partner. Independent salespeople, agents, or consultants, Agency partners, Distributors, Affiliates and Value added resellers (VAR) are different official types of channel partners and each of these provide different support and solutions to their customers. Company can decide to accept and promote one or all of these type of channel partner. Setting up a partner program can have positive effects on revenue and customer retention if done well.
