Concurrent licensing, also known as floating licensing uses a software licensing model in which multiple users are allowed to simultaneously access a software application.
Concurrent licensing is used when more users need access to a software product than necessary and each had a separate license. A pool of licenses is made available for clients to access the software simultaneously in this licensing arrangement.
A license is temporarily assigned to the user who starts the application and the same license is released into the pool when the user closes it so that it will be available to other users. Up to five employees can use the software when a company purchases five concurrent licenses and the sixth person will have to wait until one of the five users released a license.
Mobility is offered by concurrent licensing as long as the users do not exceed the licensed limit. Software usage can be maximized and expenses can be cut by adjusting to changing user demands. SaaS spend management software is generally leveraged by organizations as their source of truth to decide if they need concurrent licenses or named licenses.
Flexibility, unlimited accounts and cost-efficiency are some of the benefits of concurrent licensing.
