Data manipulation is the process of making changes in the data to organize it into a readable format. Data manipulation is used for effective data analysis.
Usually, the process of data manipulation involves inserting, deleting, and modifying data in a database. Data manipulation language (DML) is is a coding language that recognize data by modifying it within its database program and is used to complete data manipulation processes. Website management is a common example of data manipulation in which web server logs are used by website owners to locate the most viewed web pages. Data can be viewed in a realistic way in user-defined software.
Data manipulation plays a major role when data is constantly migrated to different databases by rearranging, cleansing, and removing unwanted data while migrating the data to different databases. The data can be made easier to read and draw insights out of it for end user by this process.
Arithmetic manipulation, Logical manipulation, Shift instructions and Testing are four types of manipulations carried out on data. Select, insert, update and delete are four commands commonly used for the data manipulation process.
Data needs to be modified to get an in-depth understanding of what data to use for trend analysis. Consistency in data format, Project data, efficiency, remove redundant data and data quality are benefits of data manipulation.
