Snyk, an Israeli-founded cybersecurity firm, is set to acquire Helios, a fellow Israeli startup, in a move aimed at bolstering its cloud-to-code risk visibility. While the financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, industry estimates place the valuation in the several tens of millions of dollars range.

The strategic integration will see Snyk amalgamate Helios' comprehensive full-stack runtime data collection and insights with its own Snyk Developer Security Platform. This collaboration aims to furnish customers with an all-encompassing overview of their company applications, covering the entire spectrum of the software development lifecycle.

Established in 2021 as Heliosphere Ltd., Helios specializes in a developer-centric observability platform designed to assist development and operations teams in expediently identifying and resolving issues within distributed applications. The startup's application testing platform, tailored for distributed and cloud-native applications, is dedicated to addressing security concerns during the initial stages of app development. Its focus lies in providing developers with a holistic understanding of how their code interacts within the broader context of distributed applications. Leveraging OpenTelemetry, Helios combines distributed tracing with other data sources, enabling developer teams to meticulously track the flow of requests through a distributed application. This approach equips developers with the necessary context to promptly address any issues that may arise during modifications to different sections of their applications.

Snyk's strategy involves merging Helios' full-stack runtime data collection and insights seamlessly into its existing Snyk Developer Security Platform. This integration is poised to offer customers a unified and detailed perspective on their applications throughout the software development lifecycle.

Helios had previously secured a $5 million seed funding round in 2022. Subsequently, the company did not pursue additional funding rounds. The specific financial terms of the current acquisition between Snyk and Helios have not been disclosed by the involved parties.
